I never thought a day like this would ever come.

I peaked when I was 19. It was the end of my life as I imagined it.

When I was in middle school, my best friends dad was an accountant.

He made $70,000 a year.

I thought he was some sort of god or king. And I prayed to the universe that I make at least $50,000 one day before I die.

I was 19, working 3rd shift in a factory for $14.44 an hour. Working 80 hour weeks to get paid overtime, as much as I could get my hands on.

I cracked $50,000 that year.

I had no target after that. No goals. I knew I didn’t want to be stuck in a factory job, so I went to college for music. 

I could have made it as a musician.

But my mom got arrested.
And I lost focus.
I dropped out.

I was a mouse in some sort of sick maze that noone knew the rules for.

My drummer talked me into taking a sales job. Everyone I knew thought it was the sketchiest idea ever.  But I didn’t know any better.

Not knowing any better worked out.

That sales job became a career. It became my most important life skill.

It also turned into a failure in sales management.

That failure became a 4 month stint of homelessness living out of a van.

The maze wall seemed to grow taller every time I fell back into it…
