Wow, it's been 1 year since my last video or post on this channel. No, I'm not dead šŸ˜‚

But I did have to step back from this passion project to fully focus on my duties as the CEO & Founder of my company Clarity Up, LLC. Many of you don't know that my "day job" is a speaker and consultant on human connection and core messaging.

These days I manage a small team of 4 and together we help solopreneurs and organizations all over the world learn how to talk less, say more, and connect with anyone.

But believe it or not, I'm working on a new video for this channel. One of my old friends at Rode, who I've collaborated with many times, sent me their fanciest newest mic and I just couldn't resist the opportunity to test it out and make a video.

Expect that in the next 3-4 weeks.

And hey - if you want to follow my real work, head to https://linkedin.com/in/brianmillerspeaks and connect there!

It was a nice couple weeks! The insane size and weight of the Sony 16-35 f/2.8 GM got to me pretty quickly, so I'm selling it: http://ebay.us/MgZGYg?cmpnId=5338273189

As beautiful as the image quality is, I just never find myself reaching for my camera when this lens is on it. And if I'm not using it, what's the point?

My new vlogging lens is the Sony 20mm 1.8, which is exquisite, and easy on the arm.

Want my 16-35?

Grab it on Ebay and send me a DM letting me know you're part of this community, I'll gift you access to my most popular course, Audio 101 For Content Creators.

The conference I was speaking at put me up on the top floor with access to the governor's room - caught it completely empty and snapped a few self-portraits for social with my new 20mm f/1.8 for Sony full frame. I LOVE this lens!!

This microphone is so good, it makes me want to vlog again. I haven't been this inspired by an on-camera shotgun mic in years. Review coming soon.

Welp, it's come to this.

I'm officially the millionth creator who is switching from Panasonic to Sony.

I have used a pair of G85s for years, and own a whole fleet of native glass.

Sure, the autofocus was unusable, but I just manual focus using the app.

And yeah, it's a real pain, takes a bunch of precious time, and sometimes screws up the audio by having the wifi permanently on...

But so what?

Small price for the amazing video features and beautiful image.

In 2022 I decided to go full frame, to up the production quality of some high end on-demand courses for my corporate consulting clients.

Obviously I bought the Lumix S5 and the 35mm 1.8.

Man, this camera is outstanding. It's so much fun and the image quality is unmatched.

But the autofocus...

Is unusable.

Well, that's not true

It's unreliable.

I have no idea when it has me and when it doesn't. I can't watch the screen while filming myself to make sure at every second it's not abandoning ship.

And I'm done manual focusing via the app.

It's 2022.

Enough.

So, I picked up the Sony A7IV with 35mm 1.8.

The camera isn't fun, it's cold and calculating. Image quality? Very nice. Not creamy or beautiful, but very nice.

And yet...

It. Just. Works.

Time is our most precious commodity and this Sony is going to save me a TON of time to focus on more important things like...

Content.

Connection.

Family.

So, there it is. Panasonic, you've lost another one by stubbornly sticking to your outdated DFD autofocus system.

I wish it wasn't so.

But here we are.
