Wadhwani Electronics Laboratory (WEL) was set up in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay with the help of an endowment from Dr. Romesh Wadhwani, Distinguished alumnus of Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay (class of 1969), for teaching and project development in electronics. The laboratory was formally inaugurated by Dr. Romesh Wadhwani on February 12, 2001. More than 1,700 students use WEL each year for laboratory courses at IIT Bombay. The lab has developed several hardware kits that are used in these courses and are equipped with the latest series of electronics test instruments such as oscilloscopes, function generators, FPGA programmers, digital multimeters, etc. Various technical events are housed every year at WEL, including workshops, competitions, training, outreach, etc. Students and staff working at WEL also participate in numerous translational R&D projects.
