Aaron D. S. Gruen ’22 and David Sacks ’22 were planning for a March 15 recital, with music by Beethoven, de Falla, Stravinsky, and Debussy on the program, when the COVID-19 pandemic prompted the University to move to remote instruction. Before their departure from campus, both musicians worked quickly to record their recital — which also included the premiere of an original Sacks' work, Cello Sonata No. 3. Gruen and Sacks met during their first semester at Brown through a mutual connection in the classics department. Gruen is a music and chemistry concentrator and Sacks is a philosophy and classics concentrator. Listen in as the students explore the variety of flavors the cello-piano repertoire has to offer.
