Are you  enthusiastic about synodality? 

When I first visited “Bishop” Pat Buckley, the renegade excommunicated gay man living with his married male partner, I vividly remember walking into his dining room/office and the room going completely dark, and I saw Pat sitting alone in a dark room. It was a surreal experience.  Knocked me. I experienced the depths of hell, but also the heights of Gods mercy. We don’t know the interior battles people face, their suffering. Hurt people hurt people. I learned a lesson to be an instrument of healing.  Christ said to me in prayer that he can transform anyone, but we need to be HIS disciples, hear HIS voice, learn how to love HIS ways. Pat Buckley had no sexual encounters before ordination (apart from being sexually abused as a child) he went to confession often, struggled to be faithful. He desperately wanted to be loved and accepted. But was rejected, hurt and sidelined.   The Irish Catholic Church is about to face its greatest challenge. We need to be other Christs! We need to be saints, transformed men and women. Union with God which simply can’t be expressed in words or even described. You either understand it or you don’t and Pat couldn’t. But one thing I know is that I will see him in heaven.
