My Beautiful IRAN 🇮🇷 Maharloo Lake, Fars Province Maharloo Lake (Persian: دریاچه مهارلو) is a seasonal salt lake in the highlands of Iran, 27.0 km (16.8 mi) southeast of the city of Shiraz. The lake salt is rich in potassium and other salts. The phenomenal colour comes from the high amount of red algae in the bottom of the lake. The high proliferation of algae is due to the salt in this lake. During the mid-summer, when rains are less frequent, the high rates of evaporation turn the lake into a gorgeous pink colour.
