A few weeks ago, I compared 7 of the best animation tools, and one really surprised me: CreateStudio.
They don't have a free trial, so I never tried it before now - with the $ 67-lifetime deal ( https://bit.ly/try-CS )

WHAT'S GOOD

- the animation style. It's unique to have a drag-n-drop tool that does 3D, and especially the backgrounds look amazing.

- the user interface. Most of the tools' UI suck (sorry for my French). Here's a solid tool that actually feels like a pro piece of software.

- the stock libraries. They feel curated in a way. The music, sound effects, and visual effects are high-end and relevant to the format.

WHAT'S BAD

- unique logics. I had to "unlearn" a few things to master CreateStudio. Maybe because I'm so used to Vyond and ScreenFlow.

- a lot is locked. I regret not upgrading right away, which I got offered during the checkout flow. The upgrade is mandatory, IMO.

⚡️ Give CreateStudio a spin and ask for a refund if you don't love it: https://bit.ly/try-CS

I just had a "discovery call" with a young student from India.

He booked me in for a 15-min talk about Explain Academy - a $1297 program for a small group of ambitious educators.

Although I'm sure he's not going to buy (based on the look on his face when I told him the price), I tried to coach him as hard as possible during those 15 minutes.

He wanted to learn animation (just like younger me).
He wanted to start a business (just like younger me).
And he was hungry for learning (just like younger me).

Our time is valuable yes, but maybe it's a good use of it to give back or "donate" a small amount of it to someone - once in while.

I've had rich, successful, clever people do this for me, and it has left me with a lasting gratitude towards these individuals.

An encouragement to "waste" a bit of time on a younger version of yourself today✌🏻

When to use Whiteboard, 2D, and 3D animation?

WHITEBOARD
- Great for beginners, because the visual style is hard to mess up.
- Popular for internal training, because corporate branding is less important.
- Fast to produce, because all animations are given from the start (a hand that draws).

2D ANIMATION
- Good for storytelling, because you can create rich environments/contexts.
- Perfect for explaining, because the flat style nudges towards simplicity.
- Popular for external communication, because 2D is easy to keep on brand.

3D ANIMATION
- Emotional storytelling, because you can create rich characters with human-like features.
- Rarely used for explainers, because it's a time-consuming and expensive format to produce.
- Perfect for complex/technical product tutorials, because you can animate stuff you can't film.

If you use #vyond to animate, I've made a podcast episode on the 3 styles and when to use them:

(PS: Nope, no 3D animation in Vyond, but Create Studio is an interesting option here.)

YouTube is the ultimate pressure test of your eLearning skills. Here are 6 things eLearning Pros can learn from YouTubers:

1. YouTubers get judged by "the market" and only get views if their content can compete. This teaches you to research demand and adapt to it. Keeps you humble, sharp, and mindful of how you spend your time.

2. YouTubers "front-load" value. If they don't, the viewer hits the back-button and finds something else. This teaches you to spend 30% of your time on the first 30 seconds of your video. No dwelling, no long introductions, just early answers.

3. YouTubers are as much consumers as they are creators. They spend hours each week on what outsiders see as procrastination; watching YouTube videos from other creators, dissecting structures, stealing editing tricks, and learning from their successes.

4. YouTubers are entertainers. Humor is the silver lining of most of the biggest channels out there. They know that we're emotional beings and that humor is a straight path to the heart and mind—almost regardless of the topic.

5. YouTubers are human. Information is out there—it's not scarce. Authenticity, personality, unique perspectives, past experiences. Those are human qualities we are drawn to, and with the rise of AI, this is more important than ever before.

6. YouTubers are entrepreneurs. (This is the last one, I promise).. But if you know how to teach, someone pays you to do it on the daily, then why don't you set up a website, and start to sell courses/coaching/consulting on the side? If you can teach, you can win online. Give it a shot.

How to learn all this?

I've learned a ton from "just doing it". If you want to 10x your eLearning skills, see if you can get views on your educational content on YouTube.

It's the ultimate pressure test of your skills.

How to keep up with all these new AI technologies?
Dabble with it!
So—that's what I did in the latest video on my YouTube channel!

This is the second video, I create in collaboration with Synthesia—a Danish startup that combines animated slides with human-like avatars.

Pretty cool.. and a bit weird to see yourself as an avatar.

I hope you'll watch it, give it a like, and leave a comment on what you think about this sort of content creation.

Useful, or scary? 👀
