Finally saw the Himalayan 450 in real life! A quite impressive bike in person, a big change from the 411 I have ridden so much. I will be pestering them for a test ride ASAP, hopefully side by side with the CFMOTO 450MT!

Triumph Philippines has just announced local pricing for the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, and it's pretty amazing: PhP299,000 for the Speed 400, PhP 339,000 for the Scrambler 400 X.

At that price, they compete directly with the Royal Enfield Scram 411 and even the Himalayan. For overall package, the Triumphs win, with more features, a lot more power, lighter weight, switchable ABS on the Scrambler, and more.

Offhand, however, the Scram 411 still retains a few advantages vs. the Scrambler 400 X particularly off road:
-> 1-1.5 inches more suspension travel
-> 1.5 inches (40mm) lower seat height
-> Signature 411 tractor feel with that easy low end torque
-> Spoked wheels
-> 28k pesos cheaper
-> Simpler, more familiar and established platform for parts and maintenance

Can't wait to test ride the Scrambler in particular, expect them to arrive early next year.

Riding a Royal Enfield Himalayan in the Himalayas renewed my understanding and appreciation of this motorcycle. If you've ever been around Leh and Ladakh, you'll know that you'll see dozens, maybe hundreds of riders on Himalayans every day. Some will be in full adventure gear, others are dressed like they're just going to the market. But either way, they'll be getting through the same mix of narrow mountain roads and extended stretches of off-road with few problems.

Will share my thoughts with everyone soon once I'm able to get through all my footage and reflect on the experience. For now I will say: Most of us who came home from this either want to buy Himalayans, or decided not to sell them anymore.

Made it to Khardung La with @bbmotoPH ! I was on a Royal Enfield Himalayan and she took a Scram 411. 5 more days of riding around Ladakh, India awaits us. We’ve had the best riding of our whole lives so far!
