A few people suggested that I try SBEMU, a SoundBlaster emulator for AC'97 machines under DOS, on the Desk PC. I overlooked it at first as it wasn't on the list of supported devices, but it turns out SBEMU has experimental but untested support for my VT8235 chipset! So I decided to check it out on the second channel.
