Established in 2000 as one of Governer Gray Davis' California Institutes for Science and Innovation, the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) at UCLA is a world-class research facility located at the heart of UCLA’s Court of Sciences. We pair leading-edge facilities and shared resources with preeminent services and expertise to drive collaborative nanoscience research across multiple disciplines. Research is focused in four areas: Energy, Environment, Health + Medicine, and Information Technology.
Research efforts supported by the CNSI are conducted with the specific intention of translating discoveries into commercial enterprises while educating the next generation of science and engineering professionals. We provide transformative educational opportunities to learners from primary school students to industry professionals and innovative startups.
