"We need you," wrote children in Gaza to U.S. students during a rally on Sunday. Palestinians held the gathering to show support for student protests that have swept across the U.S.

Dozens of children in Gaza gathered to send a message to these students: Thank you.

Campuses across the country are ramping up their pro-Palestinian demonstrations, including camping out in tents and disrupting business-as-usual.

After more than 900 U.S. students were arrested in April for protesting lsrael's war on Gaza, the movement shows no signs of slowing down. Many students face disciplinary action, such as suspension, expulsion or permanent bans from campus.

Police are confronting students and professors across the country as they peacefully protest Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
At Emory College, there were reports of police using rubber bullets and tear gas on students. And at the University of Texas in Austin, videos show state troopers in riot gear arresting protesters.
AJ+ is tracking arrests and documenting videos shared on social media that show police confronting demonstrators as the number of protests and encampments across the U.S. continues to grow.

The movement for Palestinian justice is spreading.

Encampments and protests have sprung up across college campuses in the U.S., and many students are facing repression. Over 100 demonstrators were arrested last week at Columbia University. Protestors want a ceasefire, and for Columbia to divest from corporations that profit from Israel’s war on Gaza.

Alumni and other prominent figures have joined the boycott movement, including Al Jazeera host Marc Lamont Hill, who cancelled a scheduled lecture to uphold protesters’ demands.

Protests have spread to other states as well. Here’s a look at some of the schools we’re tracking:

Israel’s attacks in Gaza have killed at least 100 Palestinian journalists and media workers. Others have been severely wounded, forcibly displaced or lost entire families. These journalists report on Israel’s attacks, the resulting starvation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, all while experiencing it themselves.

Now, Palestinian journalists are calling on U.S. reporters to boycott the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in protest of the Biden administration’s actions toward Gaza. “It is unacceptable to stay silent out of fear or professional concern while journalists in Gaza continue to be detained, tortured, and killed for doing our jobs,” the journalists wrote in a letter calling for the boycott.

It's been six months since lsrael launched its war on Gaza. Every aspect of life has changed for Palestinians on the ground, as they now face mass death and displacement, starvation, and a health system on the brink of collapse. Here's what that looks like, by the numbers.

American Arab and Muslim leaders declined an invitation from U.S. President Joe Biden to attend the White House’s annual Ramadan iftar over his support of Israel.

The White House instead held a small meeting with some Muslim leaders. Dr. Thaer Ahmad, who spent time volunteering as a Doctor in Gaza earlier this year, walked out of the meeting after handing Biden a letter from an orphaned 8-year-old girl in Rafah.

"This is not only an attack against WCK [World Central Kitchen], this is an attack on humanitarian organizations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war. This is unforgivable," WCK CEO Erin Gore said in a statement.

Despite coordinating their movements with the Israeli military, WCK aid convoys were hit as they were leaving the Deir el-Balah warehouse, where they were preparing to deliver food aid to starving Palestinians. The seven killed were from Palestine, UK, Australia, Poland and U.S.-Canada.

Israel passeda new law that could ban Al Jazeera fromn operating in the country. The law, which passed overwhelmingly in lsrael's Knesset, would give the Israeli government the power to shut down foreign news networks operating in Israel deemed a threat.

Israel has a history of targeting Al Jazeera. It's killed Al Jazeera journalists before and after Oct. 7, including Samer Abudaga, Hamza Dahdouh and Shireen Abu Akleh.

Gaza has become the most dangerous place in the world for journalists in recent history, according to UN experts.
