Hello! Life update!

We had a baby on October 5, 2023. Hence why I've been absent from everything online.

We're still taking a break and not sure when we'll come back. Having a newborn is hard work. I'm typing this holding her in a baby wrap because she won't nap on her own at all.

Happy holidays, everyone!

2 years ago this keyboard was all the rage. It was the only prebuilt keyboard that came in a "custom" design.

But is it STILL good?

While I have a few gripes with it, such as the costar stabilizers, the overall the design has held up. Weirdly enough it sort of looks like a Valorant-themed keyboard even though it's supposed to be "Coral Sea" themed.

This keyboard was AMAZING 2 years ago... is it still good?

Are we fans of 1800-compact (96%) keyboards? Imagine a full-size keyboard without Home/Del/PgUp/PgDn.

On one hand, it's cool to have numberpad and to reduce some of the space usage. On the other hand, not having the insert key sounds like torture. What are your thoughts on this?

On a side note: This keyboard has one of the weirdest knobs I've ever seen. It's the Epomaker RT-100. You can check it out here (sponsored): https://epomaker.com/products/epomaker-rt100

The colors are very... gray, but I like the red spacebar and it has a nice chalky sound to it.

I think the switches also have a cool name, Sea Salt Silent Switch. That's a lot of alliteration, isn't it?

Overall, it's definitely worth checking out if you're into the style.

The Epomaker EK68 is under $100 and (I think) it looks awesome. You can get it here: https://epomaker.com/products/epomaker-ek68?variant=44277905555764

I did a video on it recently and I was surprised by how it good it looked for the price. It has all of the features you expect out of a keyboard too, tri-mode wireless, gasket mount, hot-swap, etc.

If you're interested, make sure to check it out.

A keyboard that's under $100 that looks like a CUSTOM.

What are your thoughts on keyboards with LCD screens? I'm starting to see them everywhere, like on this keyboard, the Epomaker TH80-X. Check it out here: https://geni.us/HaAtcJB (Amazon)

The TH80 has had multiple different models in the past, such as the SE, the X, and the Regular edition. They all cost just under $100 and are feature-packed for a more affordable keyboard option.

The X version has a ginormous battery of 8000mAh battery, that'll last you a long time without charging.
It also has a little screen for displaying connectivity, RGB settings, and you can even have a little GIF playing in loop.

Razer just launched a 75% keyboard that is hot-swappable, has pre-lubed switches, tuned stabilizers, sound dampening foam, and tape mod already inside the case. Check it out here: https://geni.us/XpFwTb (affiliate)

I won't be able to make a video until October, but I've been using it for a couple of days, and it's exceeded my expectations of what Razer could make.

If you're looking into a keyboard that is gaming meets custom keyboard, Razer definitely doesn't disappoint. However, the price is not super budget-friendly.

You can also buy their Gen 3 Orange tactile switches by itself. They're responsive with a nice tactile bump while remaining lightweight enough for long gaming and typing sessions.

They specialize in PC cases, but built a keyboard?! It's called the Montech MKey keyboard, which you can check out here: https://geni.us/CzJVI

But can it compete against the top contenders in the market?

Coming in at the tenkeyless size, this keyboard comes in a full Japanese-inspired design.

You get this designer spacebar made with detailed line art. The colors are a samurai red and blue with a hit of orange to drive home the design.

The keycaps themselves are made from PBT so they won't be wearing down anytime soon.

The backside of the keyboard comes with convenient cable routing, but to be honest, I don't think I ever use them.
I like how the switches come prelubed, which is becoming standard nowaways.

This keyboard specifically has Gateron G Pro Yellows which are a certified classic.

If you are worried about the lack of a number pad, there is an option available.

The Mkey keyboard hits almost all of the checkmarks for a great keyboard and it distinguishes itself with it's unique Japanese design, making it a great choice if you are sucked into the aesthetic of the board.

You can find the keyboard here.

Budget keyboards are getting really good! No, I don't mean "budget keyboards" that are over $100. I mean ones that are in the $50-$60 range, like Royal Kludge.

The RK61 has always been a fan favorite when looking for a budget beginner-friendly 60% keyboard that's super affordable. Now they've made the RK61 Plus, an upgraded version: https://www.amazon.com/RK-ROYAL-KLUDGE-Mechanical-Swappable/dp/B0B5R4RPBT/ref=sr_1_19?crid=IVSAUW94UN7H&keywords=rk%2Broyal%2Bkludge&qid=1682388597&s=videogames&sprefix=rk%2Cvideogames%2C283&sr=1-19&th=1 (Amazon)

Royal Kludge has taken that and made it better with way more features!
- Now you can connect via 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth along with USB-C
- Has USB passthrough with a USB-A and USB-C port
- Pre-lubed hot-swappable linear switches and tuned stabilizers
- Sound dampening foam for better acoustics

You can listen to it in this Short I made!
