It's Official: Owen Lloyd will be invited to the 2024 National Championships and swim in the fast heat of the 1650y Freestyle

I'm seeing a lot of people ask for updates on the Owen Lloyd DQ. Most are wondering about an appeal, others wonder if the official(s) got fired, and some of you might be wondering about Owen himself. Here's what I can say right now:

I briefly spoke with Owen: He says he's doing good and getting back into the groove of things.

As far as I'm aware, no appeal of the result has been filed & nobody has been removed from their officiating position. I'm hearing rumblings of a possible rule change being talked about in some circles, but it's all speculation at this time.

Also, you all know that Owen lost his A-Cut (auto bid to NCAA's) with this DQ. However, his listed best time of 14:41 .32 puts him in a REALLY good position to be invited to the NCAA Championships (March 27th-30th).

Can't say I expected that!

Owen Lloyd's DQ got a lot more eyes on it than I could have predicted, and as a result, a massive discussion is ongoing in the comments that I can't keep track of. I'd like to try and get a better understanding of people's perception of this situation so if you could take the time to vote below on which take you best align with that would be super swell.

Thanks everyone!

I think Owen deserved the DQ, rules are rules

I think Owen DIDN'T deserve the DQ, there was no interference

I think the rule is good, but this particular call was bad

I think this rule is bad & the NCAA should amend it

Hi everyone! Thanks for your support of the channel so far, it really means a lot to me 💙

Sorry for being inactive, had a lot of things come up. More "A Look Back" episodes are in the works among other videos so just keep being patient as I get them over the finish line!

Also, I want to let everyone know that starting today, you're gonna see a LOT of activity on the channel as we get closer to the 2024 World Swimming Championships. Hopefully what I've been working on makes you laugh, or at least chuckle a bit 😊

Thanks again for being a part of this swim media journey of mine, and as always, good night and good swim bro 👍🏻
