I think we came north too soon. 🙂 

On our final hop, before crossing on the ferry back to Vancouver Island, we stayed at the 7 Cedars Casino in Sequim, Washington. We haven't stayed for about 5 years or so, and things have changed. They built an upper lot for RVs and even have 8 spots with free water and electricity. If you sign up for the player's reward card, you can get 3 nights in a 30-day period of free overnight parking. We tried the new restaurant and it was good and not bad pricing. 4 of us ate dinner for $75 plus tip. Good fish and chips and large portions. Here are a few pictures of the RV parking area, nice surroundings. 

Overnighted at the Blue Heron French Cheese Company in Tillamook, OR. They allow free RV overnight parking in the back of the gravel lot. Register in the store. Lots of neat old farm equipment! Anne picked up some of their namesake brie, and of course, we also had to stop at the Tillamook Cheese factory down the road this AM for a couple loaves of their cheese. Great stops as you head up or down the 101 coastal highway. 

You have to love the Oregon coast. Herds of Roosevelt Elk and Pelicans. Not too many places have both! Spotted this cute pelican yesterday at Winchester Bay and the elk herd a few miles away at Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area. 

When the sun comes out on the Oregon coast, the birds know you must take full advantage. :) 

A couple of interesting bird sightings out the back window of the RV on the Oregon Coast. First, a Surf Scoter, we saw them on the boat last summer but could never get that close to them, cool looking bird., Then a white Mallard, maybe it's an escaped pet or farm bird. But has been hanging out with another pair of regular males, best buds. :) 

We have made it back to the great state of Oregon the other day. Here, we are free overnighting at the Seven Feathers Casino's back lot. Filled up at their fuel station with sub 4 dollar per gallon diesel. Not bad these days out west. Headed over to the coast and the weather forecast looks decent for the upcoming week. 

Another fun visit to the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge today.  barely anyone else was there. It's warmed up! Low wind and mid-70s, low 20s C. Lots of interesting shorebirds and ducks here right now. Cool to see the pretty White-faced Ibis that is fairly rare up in BC. Anne had her big lens out in the backseat, so I'm sure some nice shots will come, and I'll stick together a video. :) 

Still a bit chilly in California, but temps are on the rise. Today we scoped out some of the wildlife refuges north of Sacramento. Most of the larger winter bird flocks have left, but lots of ducks and smaller birds to view, and a relaxing way to spend a crisp spring day. It's nice to see California looking so lush after the copious winter rains.
