I remember when I made the Polis and Control free dl albums, I gave up on all the things I expected music would bring to me while making the tracks, to hell success and recognition. It wasn’t about ‘building a career’ anymore but simply expressing the fire I had inside without letting my ego take over. Making music is like creating a link with something beautiful and precious deep in the heart and soul, once you’ve turned it into a material thing your brain starts making plans and calculating things to profit from it, to gain more of what you’ve already got. In that process, it destroys the depth and humanity that was originally there. So P2P is a kind of reminder to myself, when everything works out for you, don’t start building a superficial prison of vanity around yourself, it’s a responsibility to stay loyal to the humble truth that brought your music to life, nothing more powerful than sharing.
