To new and happy beginnings - Happy Nowruz‼️ 🌸

While millions around the world are kicking off the new year with today's equinox at 03:06 a.m. UTC, and celebrate International Day of Happiness, the Webb reveals the rare sight of a bright Wolf-Rayet star.

The Webb Space Telescope has captured a remarkable image of the Wolf-Rayet star WR 124. This star is surrounded by a distinctive halo of gas and dust, which glows in infrared light. Despite being on the brink of stellar “death,” Wolf-Rayet stars offer insights into new beginnings. Cosmic dust forms in the turbulent nebulas around these stars, containing heavy elements crucial for life in the Universe.

Webb’s detailed observations of WR 124, a massive star shedding its outer layers, provide valuable data for astronomers. As ejected gas cools, cosmic dust emerges and emits infrared light. This image captures a fleeting moment of transformation and holds the promise of unraveling cosmic dust’s long-standing mysteries. 🌟🔭✨
