Russian opposition politician Aleksei Navalny has died while in prison, according to a statement from the local department of the Federal Penitentiary Service.

The 47-year-old Kremlin critic had been serving his sentence in the IK-3 prison, known as "Polar Wolf", above the Arctic Circle. The strict-regime prison is a place where a water cannon is an instrument of torture. https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-navalny-arctic-polar-wolf-prison/32749723.html
