Battle for Singapore follows the remarkable events of seventy years ago when the British military faced its biggest ever defeat on the 15th February 1942 and surrendered its Singapore fortress to the Japanese. Using unique new sources of information and research the channel charts the campaign of the Japanese and analyses the British position and surrender. With original documents and film we intend to bring history to life with personal accounts from the civilian population, Prisoners of War (P.O.W.) and Japanese troops. We will follow the lives of those caught up in the conflict and trace what happened to them. Comments that will add to the knowledge of this key moment in the formation of modern day Singapore are welcome.
