My "Youtube sailing journey" will now take a drastically new direction! Huge thanks to all of you who were part of it!

I just recently posted an anchoring video which (not surprisingly) is not getting the views that my more mainstream oriented videos (like boat tours, cooking on a boat, daily life on a boat) have got. I really wanted to stick with the "sailing & nature" genre, but this has made me realise that these just aren't the right themes to "make it big" on Youtube.

I've decided to change the direction of my content to baking 👩🏻‍🍳🍰🍪! (and yes I mean real baking and not "getting baked")

That might sound surprising but it's a secret passion that me (and also Sohvi) have been doing behind the scenes.

As some of you might know, I lived in Austria for several years and my favourite thing to bake must be the legendary apfelstrudel.

We are going all in with this project.

Tomorrow I will name the channel to "Alluring Apple Strudels". We will concentrate on all kinds of delicious pastries and not just apple strudels. Most of the baking will be done on board s/v Lumi so fear not, as we will also be covering boat related subjects, like how to bake using a crappy propane oven etc. This summer we will host a series called "Baking during the Northwest Passage" and in the autumn we hope to transition to "Baking in Greenland".

We'll shortly be releasing an Alluring Apfel Strudel themed baking apron in collaboration with @hellyhansen, and our long-time electronics partner @raymarinefinland will be providing us with a full FLIR thermal imaging system (connected to our Axiom screens) to really take the temperature control of our oven to the next level.

Sohvi has not taken part in filming and editing of the Youtube videos, but she will now abandon her financially not-so-lucrative but otherwise highly rewarding academic career to become the camera person for this new series!

We hope that this new path will be a better way for us to finance our sailing life.

Just kidding. April 1st. Now go on Youtube and watch the anchor video 🥳🥳

what better way to break the silence here than sharing a photo of something I just got my hands on. My sailor suit from when I was 2 years old. (And yes that photo is me).

I sure did look dazzling but this was just posing. I did not start sailing until 20 years later. Anyway uhh have a great weekend everyone!

Hi all, sorry that this week's video is delayed (I think I mentioned earlier that I'd post a new one on Saturday)! Unfortunately I'm having trouble uploading it (Starlink and Youtube not working so well together right now), but I'll try to get it uploaded on Sunday morning US time. Instead, here's a photo of my skis from today, looking down to the bay where Lumi was anchored. She's just a tiny white dot so I don't think you'll be able to see her but I assure you she's down there! :) Have a great weekend everyone!

Big news, we just bought THIS Leopard 45 and will be sailing a tour around the Caribbean, starting from St Marten next month!

OK that was a very low effort April Fool's.

I did just release a new video though, go and check it out! And we have swimsuit content too! And I'm naked! Not kidding this time! https://youtu.be/EN7T1bnOsy0

BEWARE OF THE SCAMS (again). This is an ongoing problem, the comment fields have been invaded by scam accounts telling you to contact them usually on Telegram or WhatsApp for a free giveaway or something similar. They're impersonating as me and the usernames are some sort of a variation of "Alluring Arctic Sailing" (for example: Alluring_Arctic Sailing). All of these are scams and Youtube spam detection does not pick them up. I'm not able to keep up with deleting them as they're created by bots and they just keep coming. Do not send your personal information or any money to any of these! I will never ask you to contact me on Telegram or WhatsApp!

My only real pages are these:

BEWARE OF THE SCAMS. My videos' comment fields have been invaded by scam accounts telling you to contact them on, usually on Telegram or WhatsApp for a free giveaway or something similar. All of these are scams and Youtube spam detection does not pick them up. It's impossible for me to keep deleting them since the usernames are created by bots and they just keep coming. In the past few days I have received several private messages asking if these are real. They are not, they are all scams. Do not send your personal information or any money to any of these! The only way to contribute to the creation of these videos is currently through Patreon http://www.patreon.com/alluringarctic , the only "official" Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/alluringarctic and the only Instagram account is @alluringarctic ( http://www.instagram.com/alluringarctic) , spelled exactly like that, and nothing else!

Hi all and especially all the new viewers! Sorry I have not been able to get back to your comments as much as usual lately, and haven't been able to post more videos, we are still a bit busy with the boat! Spoiler alert, we have actually left the first boat yard but ended up on a second one, having some problems with our centerboard system... if you want more "real time" updates check out my Instagram and/or Facebook:

Launched after approx 4.5 months and a huge amount of work completed! Many of you said it'd take us at least a year, well guess what suckers, you were wrong 😉. (I did have to sacrifice updating this channel though, sorry about that, will get back to videos ASAP). The last two months were a bit grueling, and there's still a lot to do but we're floating and almost ready to sail. Big thanks to all the other liveaboards at the boat yard, we always had someone to give us a hand if we needed a third or a fourth person. And thanks to those who helped us out in any other way too, either by borrowing tools, a car, storage space and so on, you all know who you are!

In these photos you'll also see the new Far East Sailmakers' sails, they look great and I'm super happy with them. As I did all the measuring myself, I'm also relieved that they seem to be the correct dimensions, with all the right details, and fit our rig perfectly! I was pretty sure I'd make at least one grave mistake somewhere, but seems like I got it mostly right. Michael at Far East Sails also helped a lot with the process. Specifying a whole new set of sails (especially when you haven't sailed the boat before or seen the old sails in action) is a task that should not be underestimated... Will report back after couple good days of test sailing...

Thanks for these launch day photos Michelle (I was too busy to take any good ones myself...)
