I've recently been re-testing some monitors with the latest firmware. Here's what I've found from the Asus PG32UCDM with the latest MCM103 firmware release:

✅Fixed: Brightness on AMD GPUs now reaches 1000 nits without EDID hacks and EOTF tracking is good at a 2%/10% window size
❌Not fixed: Poor EOTF tracking at high window sizes like 25% and 50% which leads to lower than expected brightness in high APL scenes (in the brightest mode)

I've run a few real world tests and for reference brightness in high APL content (eg the sky in sunny scenes) can be about 25% higher on the WOLED-based LG 32GS95UE than the QD-OLED PG32UCDM. The LG monitor also has poor tracking at high window sizes like 25%, but not as bad as most QD-OLEDs. This is something all OLED brands need to work on.

LG are claiming their OLED monitors such as the 32GS95UE actually do include a 2 year burn in warranty, even though that isn't clearly stated on their website product page or warranty document. LG are merely claiming there is a 2 year warranty "including OLED Display Panel". Other manufacturers like Dell, Asus and MSI all have clear wording specifying that "burn in" is covered, and when Asus added a burn in warranty, their website was updated to clearly say so.

Instead LG have simply told me over email that LG Electronics 2 year warranty for these monitors does include burn in, and have linked to articles such as this one from The Verge that state this. https://www.theverge.com/23827701/lg-oled-burn-in-warranty-two-desktop-monitor-windows

LG also claim that the existing wording of "including OLED display panel" itself conveys that burn in is covered, and that this terminology aligns with what they say with their OLED TVs.

My worry is that without clear wording on the website or some document from LG that buyers could point to, that warranty claims relating to burn in would be denied because it technically isn't specified anywhere.

So I'm wondering what you all think. Should I take them on their word, or err on the side of caution when discussing their monitors and burn in warranty?

Take LG on their word, the email/articles are good enough

The current wording on LG's site already implies burn in cover

LG needs to clearly state burn in is covered on their website

I've been testing a monitor with two HDR configurations that perform differently. Which mode should I include in comparison charts for this monitor?

Note that showing both isn't an option, I usually only have one entry for a monitor, especially if that monitor isn't the focus of the review.

The more accurate but less bright mode - preference accuracy

The less accurate but brighter mode - preference brightness

I've gotten a second update from MSI regarding the MSRP of their QD-OLEDs. They have decided to change their mind and offer their previously lowered pricing permanently, instead of just as an introductory price. That means the official MSRPs of their products are as follows

- MSI 321URX QD-OLED 32" at US$949.99
- MSI 271QRX QD-OLED 27" at US$799.99
- MSI 491CQP QD-OLED 49" at US$1,099.99

Asus has updated the warranty for their OLED gaming monitors to now include 2 years of panel burn-in coverage. This applies to the PG34WCDM, PG49WCD, PG27AQDM, PG48UQ, PG42UQ and upcoming models like the PG32UCDM.

You'll see the change in the specification tab on Asus product page, so you can refer to that for warranty claims in the future
