How to get a top score without sacrificing your sleep.

These 5 techniques lay the foundation for understanding and encoding.

Although not foolproof, give them a try and let me know your results:

1. Chunking: Group information into 2-4 related ideas. Organize, memorize.

2. Mindmaps: Embrace the non-linear nature of knowledge. Visualize relationships with mindmaps or flowcharts.

3. Handwritten notes: Forget typing. Spend more time thinking and writing out your notes. This enforces the information by personalizing it for you.

4. Interleaving: Mix it up! Approach knowledge from different angles and try various strategies—just like you'll do with these methods.

5. Teaching: share knowledge with an imaginary friend. Uncover knowledge gaps and relearn.

This Method (backed by science) was discovered by Dr. Andrew Weil and is based on the ancient yoga practice of pranayama.

The 4-7-8 breathing technique is a simple relaxation method that some people find helpful for falling asleep faster. Here's how it works:

The Breath Cycle:

1. Inhale: Breathe in silently through your nose for a count of 4 seconds.
2. Hold: Hold your breath for a count of 7 seconds. Don't strain, but try to gently hold without feeling uncomfortable.
3. Exhale: Exhale forcefully through your mouth for a count of 8 seconds, making a whooshing sound. Purse your lips slightly if it helps.
4. Repeat this rejuvenating cycle3-5 times, twice daily.
