Hi there crew. Just a reminder that on Tues, Apr 30 at 2pm MDT (8pm UTC), I will host a special livestream broadcast with geologist and YouTube educator Myron Cook. Hope you can join us as we learn more about his background and talk geology.

Hello team. Today, I was planning to record (and post) an interview with Yosemite National Park geologist Greg Stock but he his busy dealing with a rockfall event in the park (somewhat ironic), so he and I are rescheduling for next week. In the meantime, I have a little time today to post a Random Roadcut video so look for that later today.
Later this week, I have an overnight field trip to northern Utah with my GEOL 102 (Historical Geology) class on Thurs-Fri (with lousy weather in the forecast) but will try to do another Iceland update either tomorrow (Wed) or Saturday. Also look for a livestream announcement soon with Myron Cook and I.

Picture of a friend I made doing field work yesterday. It was somewhat chilly and windy, so I was surprised to see this.

Hey there crew. I’ve missed connecting with you the past 12 or so days. Heading to JFK airport then home right now. Our trip to Prague, Vienna, and NYC was an amazing whirlwind. I did manage to do a few videos where rocks and geology intersected our path. I’ll get those out to you soon.

Excited to get back to finishing the semester and providing regular updates on Iceland. Look for a livestream sometime this week. My April and May are pretty insanely busy but it’s all self inflicted fun. I’ll provide a brief rundown soon.

Hey there crew. My apologies for this late announcement, but I will be livestreaming a drone flight with NatureEye over new lava fields in Iceland on Wed, Feb 28 at 7am MST (2pm UTC). It will be a bit briefer than my typical livestreams as I have a class to teach at 9am. Hope you can join us but if not, you can catch the replay. See you soon. Photo from Aug 2022 eruption.

Hey Team. Sorry for the late notice, but it looks like I will be teaming up with NatureEye to remotely fly a drone near the lava fields in the Grindavik area tomorrow (Sun, Feb 25) at 8am MST (3pm UTC) for a livestream broadcast. Hope you can join! The livestream post is up now on YouTube.

Hi there Team. Just returned from a fantastic trip to Bryce Canyon National Park. We did some cross country skiing and hiking under spectacular sunny skies. The contrast of the pink limestone, white snow, and blue sky was striking. Of course, I also managed to do a few videos so look for those soon, including two new Random Roadcuts.

Here is a new, in-house documentary from NatureEye on our collective experience with the Dec 18 and Jan 14 eruptions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrHTc... Enjoy!

This week, join me and the rest of the team for a livestream broadcast on Thurs, Feb 22 at 8am MST (3pm UTC). Hope you can make it but if not, be sure and catch the recording later.

Thanks to our amazing crew of enthusiastic geo-learners!

Hey there Geo-Learning Team. Just a reminder of my livestream tomorrow (Wed, Feb 7 at 3pm MST or 10pm UTC). We will unpack and debrief the fun Nick Zentner livestream from Sunday, provide updates on both Iceland and Kilauea, cover a few upcoming field trip announcements, and wrap up with some viewer Q&A. Look forward to seeing many of you there. Thanks for all you do to help create a positive learning community.

Happy Friday Team. Wow, things are hopping with both Kilauea and Iceland eruptions quite likely soon. I'm trying to stay abreast of the latest data and plan to continue with updates for each. Thank you all for your interest, encouragement, engagement, and support. It's truly awesome to connect with great folks who love geology and learning as much as I do. Hoping to do a video update for both Hawaii and Iceland today.

Also, a reminder that I will be a guest on Nick Zentner's YouTube ( @GeologyNick ) livestream this Sunday, Feb 4 at 10am MST (5pm UTC) where we will discuss the Bonneville Flood (and whatever else Nick brings up). Hoping to figure out how to also broadcast it on my YT channel too. If you miss it, the recording will be available.
