Why am I doing this? Because I enjoy writing above all else.  I basically do it for free, though you can donate over there and I get 90% of the cut.

This is true: twice I have been approached by major publications to write for them, because of this Youtube channel. I accepted one of them -- this was a couple of years ago.  I wrote 2-3 reviews, and they paid exceptionally well. But then, about 3/4s of the management quit after a controversy. That mean that most of the people who hired me, including the CEO who liked this channel a lot, was no longer there.  So, the new hire-ups didn't know me, I was new, and they stopped giving me work.

That wasn't a big deal, except the pay.  I found that their editors were so heavy-handed that they basically rewrote my reviews, needlessly.  It was the kind of gig where they asked for 1000 words, and often they'd have to cut it down to 400 for space.  I really hated their editing. It seemed unethical. The final product I did not write myself.

Well, on Substack, I can write it myself! And sometimes I make mistakes, yet I consider that a feature. I never use AI writing, and I'm my own idiosyncratic self.

Fair warning: I did not like this movie that much.  If you can withstand that opinion, I'm sure this episode will be entertaining, if not illuminating as well.
