Panoholics: The Ultimate Guide To Panorama Photography begins filming next month in Newfoundland with Brent Henderson. Post your questions here if there are specific topics you'd like us to cover in this course. Depending on what kind of content we manage to film on The Rock, we're hoping for a summer release date. Thanks, Gavin.

'Resident Eagle' - This magnificent specimen used to frequent the knobbly fir tree at the bottom of our yard, and the longest lens I had was 400mm.

Even with 400mm in crop mode (612mm), the eagle was still just a tiny part of my frame, and the crop was just too small with insufficient resolution.

Four years later, I splashed some cash on Topaz Photo AI to repair my terrible eclipse photos from last week, and I thought, what else could it do? So I dug up some old photos, and this was one of the first. To say I'm blown away by the results would be an understatement, and now I'm frantically digging through the archives to see what other gems I can salvage from photos I'd give up on.

This post is not sponsored, and I paid hard-earned dollars for the software; in fact, Topaz doesn't even know who I am, but if you're reading this, Topaz, get in touch. If I get enough requests from you guys I'd be happy to do a before/after video to show you the difference.

Thanks for reading

As you know, I have atrocious timing. Therefore, I have chosen to set up a TikTok channel until now. Find me on TikTok at https://www.tiktok.com/@fototripper or just look up Fototripper. My goal is to amass 10 million subs just before it gets banned in all Western countries. Like I said, timing.

Hope to see you there.

If you look very closely, you can see the details of the moon; this is called 'Earth-Shine', where the most wonderful aspects of planet Earth get reflected back into space to paint the moon with wonderful light.

I was amazed that my camera could pick up this much detail. It's said that 'Earth-Shine' is in the eye of the beholder. Each person sees something different.

I've stared at this image for hours, trying to figure out what I'm seeing in those peaks and valleys of the moon. What do you see?

I'm toying with the idea of shooting some NYC nighttime cityscapes this year. Do any of my subscribers have access to some premium viewpoints they'd like to share? Perhaps you've got a luxury penthouse you'd let us stay in that offers the city's best views? I'm not asking much ;)

I just heard the tragic news that Alyn Wallace passed away. I didn't know him personally, but we'd both chatted about one day collaborating, and I was excited about that. As far as I'm concerned, Alyn was an institution when it came to night photography, and he was more than generous about sharing his passion and his knowledge.

I'm shocked and saddened to see someone so young and vibrant pass away.

When I watched his videos, he always seemed like such a nice bloke. It's sobering to think that we always take the presence of the people we admire for granted, like they'll always be there, and so will we. This news has made me take stock of that.

The world has been made a better place because of Alyns creations and I'm grateful for what he brought to all of us both in terms of his artistic talent and his relentless work in the field of night photography education.

I expect there are many people feeling the loss of his presence at this time, and my heart goes out to his loved ones and those closest to him.

Thanks for the inspiration, Alyn. I'll think of you when I look up at the stars.

RIP

I need your help. I'm doing another cross-Canada road trip this year and would appreciate suggestions on the best locations to visit. I was thinking of going up through Ontario and then into Quebec. After that, I would go down into the US all the way to Montana on my way up to Alberta. Thanks in advance for any must-see shooting locations you might be able to suggest along the way.

Cheers
