A quick update for everyone! Firstly, I just want say that the channel hit 1,000,000 views a few days ago, which is super exciting! Thanks for everyone's support along the way, it means a lot.

Over the last couple of months I've been working research and on the script of the next video, with about 5,000 words (approx. 30 mins of video) done so far. For those who were wondering, the next video will be about Xerox PARC. If you're not aware, PARC (Palo Alto Research Centre) was a research centre set up by photocopier company Xerox in California to investigate and pioneer future technologies for an 'office of the future'. Many of the technologies and employees from PARC would go on to define much of what we consider modern computing. However, Xerox management didn't see the much of the potential in PARC and a lot of the technology was only made mainstream by PARC employees who left to join other technology companies.

As I now am working full time I can't say much about timelines but in my head a trailer by the end of the year and the video out by spring 2025 seems plausible. As always, I post more detailed updates and other extras on Patreon, so if you want to support the channel beyond just subscribing then head on over there :)

Thanks again!

Hi everyone! This is a quick post to say thank you for the reception of my most recent video and thank you for 10,000 subscribers! It's a really awesome feeling to see the video do well after many months of hard work :) To all of you who have just recently watched the channel or those who have been subscribed for years, I just want to say thank you.

I've taken a bit of time over Christmas to take a breather from creating content (and also work) and feel super refreshed! Over the last few days I've started the research stage of the next video and I plan on posting regular updates and previews to my community page. As always, there will be more detailed updates at patreon.com/techknowledgevideo, so if you want to generously support the channel beyond subscribing then you can head on over :)

Thanks again.

It's time. The Cray video will be up on Patreon tomorrow and up on YouTube on December 10th.

Hi everyone! Another quick update - I have posted the introduction to the Cray video (the first 3m30s) over on Patreon as a Patreon exclusive. If you are feeling generous and want to contribute to the channel, then you can watch this video right now as well as see exclusive content, extended posts, and get other perks such as getting your name in every future video on the channel, for just $3 a month.

The video itself is pretty much done, so only the soundtrack now remains, which I have just started producing. As I said in the previous post, my aim was a November release but this will likely be pushed back to December as I want to ensure the quality of the soundtrack is higher than previous videos.

Thanks again for your continued support :)

Just an update for everyone as it's been a little while since I've posted! The first super rough cut of the upcoming Cray video is done so I'm currently going through polishing, including re-recording all of the voiceover, improving graphics and updating transitions. Once this is done the next stage will be recording the soundtrack. I aim to get the video out by the end of November however I want it to be as polished as possible so it may take a bit longer.

If you're feeling generous and want to show support beyond subscribing then you can aid the channel financially at patreon.com/techknowledgevideo. For only a few bucks a month you can get your name in this upcoming video (and all future videos), previews of upcoming content, and an enormous amount of gratitude from myself :) For example: once I have produced the first audio track, I will release the first 5 minutes of the video exclusively on Patreon as a preview and also to get feedback and improvements from viewers.

In terms of my personal side, I have submitted my PhD thesis and am starting work next week, which is very exciting! I'll keep you updated about video progress on here, with another post when the video is closer to release, with previews of the video and further discussion being found over on Patreon.

Thanks!

Hi everyone - just a quick update! Firstly I just want to say thanks for 6,000 subscribers, which we passed at the start of the month! In addition, the trailer is coming up to 1,000 views which is exciting :) Every bit of support means a lot so thank you so much.

As some of you may know I have been studying for a PhD in computer science for the past 4 years, and now I am in the critical writing up stage which unfortunately has to be my main focus at the moment. I did a little bit of video work in early May but I have been very busy over the last few months and will continue to be for the next few. My plan is to finish the thesis in August and spend the months after solely working on video. I am aiming to get it released by late November, before moving into the world of work and giving some plans for future videos on the channel.

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed the trailer for the upcoming video. If you haven't seen it yet then please do check it out on the channel page :)

Progress will be a little bit slower in May as I have a lot of research preparation and writing up to do. In the mean time however I have attached a few screenshots of some of the work done since the last post. Thanks as always for your support!

A quick update for everyone with a few screenshots from the last month and a half's work. The video is really coming along now with significant progress made in this time! As always, a huge thank you to every viewer and subscriber - as a small channel making these long form documentaries, every little bit of support means a lot and makes a big difference. See you soon :)
