SIX MONTH CHECK-IN FOR FEEDBACK

With Second Wind now being six months old, I wanted to take a moment and check-in with you all on how you're feeling about the channel!

Feedback was a huge part of how we continued to improve at The Escapist and I want to continue that here! 

Whether it's good feedback, bad feedback, or something you'd like to see on Second Wind, it's all useful information for us.

You're all invited to our six-month celebration event for Second Wind on May 30th LIVE on YouTube.

New announcements, teasers for upcoming things, raffling off some game consoles, giving away a ton of game codes, releasing a new set of merch and more!

We'll be streaming for 9 hours straight, playing a variety of games with the community, continuing the Dokapon Kingdom campaign and just having a good time.

We can't wait to see you there and showcase what we've got planned for the rest of the year!

Happy SIX MONTHS of Second Wind! 

It was exactly six months ago today that everything happened with The Escapist and Second Wind was born.

It's been an incredible six months and the community has had our back the whole way. From our team to you, a big thank you.

Later this month we'll be hosting a six-month celebration stream event in which we'll be playing games with the community, giving out a ton of game codes, announcing some new projects, teasing some stuff we've been working on, putting out our next big wave of merch, and in general raising funds towards our continued sustainability!

Stay tuned for more updates on that in the next week or so for timing and what we'll be doing.

In the meantime, if you haven't yet joined our Patreon and would like to support our work, this month is when we're making a big push to get back close to that $60K mark to cover the majority of our costs.

NEW PODCAST ANNOUNCEMENT

Today we're excited to announce a brand-new podcast that's coming to Second Wind called, Dev Heads!

The first episode will premiere next Friday, May 10th, LIVE on YouTube.

This is podcast will be hosted by JM8, Tina Sanchez and Mikee Tsarouhas who have experience ranging all the way from indie dev to AAA.

Tina Sanchez previously worked on the Call of Duty franchise, Apex Legends and God of War Ragnarök.

Mikee Tsarouhas has worked on the Insurgency franchise and more recently at Meta working on Onward.

And of course, JM8 who has been a game design lecturer for 3+ years, a level and sound designer on the indie title, The Bog, and is working on another unannounced project.

The podcast will air every other Friday and feature a range of topics, all from the perspectives of game developers.

We're keeping the podcast laid back, so don't worry about it getting too technical or inside-baseball. We will also be bringing guests into the show regularly to share their perspectives as well!

We want this podcast to be accessible to audiences while also providing a unique perspective from people who have actually been working at all levels of the industry.

Dev Heads will be recorded LIVE on YouTube, and then made available on all of our normal podcast platforms, with ad-free versions available to our $5 subscribers on Patreon. 

CHANNEL UPDATE

Today we're excited to make a change to Bytesized to reintroduce it as Bytesized Reviews. We loved doing 3MR back at The Escapist, and wanted to continue highlighting a wide range of underappreciated titles with quick and to the point reviews. 

Bytesized Reviews will essentially follow the same format you knew and loved, but just under a fresh new name. We'll be using a variety of writers for these, and even be introducing some new voices soon as well!

Our essays will also continue from a variety of writers too, but we're taking those back to the drawing board for a bit to figure out how and where they will live on the channel.

The first Bytesized Review is available now from Jess Hoops on Botany Manor!

With May just around the corner, we're already coming up on SIX MONTHS of Second Wind! We're planning a big event for May which will have new announcements, teases of upcoming content, new merch and more as we look to raise additional funds towards our sustainability.

Many of you have requested a follow-up to our 3 Minute Review show back on The Escapist. We're thinking about ideas on what to do for a successor to it and wanted to get your feedback on the following idea:

What’s your thoughts on a 3 Minute Review spiritual successor show that acts more as like a discovery queue of quick hit (less than 4 min, one game per episode) game recommendations from our critics instead of a straight-up “review”? We'd only do videos on games we recommend, so that we're not just doing "reviews" to review things.

CHANNEL UPDATE

Heads up on an upcoming schedule change!

Good Blood will no longer be a every other week show going forward as Javed wanted to get back to making the bigger video essays he's known for, starting with and completing the Metal Gear Legend series he started back on The Escapist!

Longform essays is something we don't have on the channel yet, and there's no better person for them than Javed, so we're excited to make this change and bring some really high-quality stuff to you when it's ready! 

In light of that schedule shift, this means that my show, Unpacked, will now take the every other Thursday slot in its place, so you can expect a new episode from me (Nick) this Thursday for that.

Chronicle is also on a bit of hiatus as Frost wanted to focus on Cold Take primarily, so as of right now I have no further updates on that show, but it's one of my favorites and a fan-favorite, so when we have a plan for what we want to do with it, you'll be the first to know!

And you may have noticed a lull in Bytesized releases. They will begin airing again this week. We just had a lot going on the last month + KC and Jesse are hard at work on the Adventure is Nigh Remasters, so our available writers for the show were limited.
