I was annoyed recently when a local politician did something that I thought was dead -- slagging urban cycling to score political points. Which got me wondering if winter is the last bastion for a certain type of misguided, backward-looking urban transportation cycling critic. What do you think?
One clarification: In this video, I mention a new ring road in my city that is completely cleared after every snowfall. While this is true, it is maintained by the provincial government, not the municipal one. My larger point about hundreds of kilometres of city roads being cleared compared to a measly handful of kilometres of protected bike lanes still stands, but for sticklers, the ring road is actually under the responsibility of the province.
