Santini (B) & Quatretemps deliver the stunningly powerful Powder on Bonzai Classics and, with a little help from some of our in-house remixers, we’ve also dished out two solid progressive house remixes from Phi Phi & Manu Riga and AudioStorm over on our Bonzai Progressive imprint. These guys really need no introduction, they’ve been stalwarts on the scene for decades, providing magical moments for clubbers and ravers all over the world. They have been and will continue to perform live at many events, breaking from the traditional DJ routine to a more hands on, creative performance. A very much respected duo, not just with Bonzai, but within the international scene, there can be no doubt of the impact they’ve had in shaping the sound of a generation. You can catch the guys at Bonzai Originals 2020 and Legacy Festival 2020. They are also in the studio working on new Phrenetic System material as well as other exciting new projects. It’s well worth keeping an eye on these two, big things are gonna happen.
Powder is one of those tracks that makes the whole club night experience memorable, generating a vibrant, energetic, driving progressive trance groove. No surprise to hear influences of the retro Bonzai sound that dominated the mid to late nineties, these guys were responsible for a lot of that. The track intros with a striking, sweet piano melody alongside a famous spoken vocal from the moon landings. Swelling pads and a strong breakbeat builds us up as the vocal leads us into the main groove. Pumping kicks and a deep, rumbling bassline dominate while gritty layers create depth. Buzzing, pulsating synths take control, becoming infectious to the groove and on the break the build-up is frenetic, bringing the track to climax and back to full-on mode for the duration. An epic, monster of a tune that will have the floors rocking hard.
