MW2:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is taking up a whole 151.4GB of space on PS5 SSDs after its day one patch was applied earlier today. The game was a somewhat reasonable file size during the one week of early access to its campaign, but a 40.156GB update to get it ready for Friday's launch has changed things. PS5 users now have a title taking up more than one-fifth of their internal SSD.
It was thought that Activision's decision to break the upcoming Warzone 2 away from Modern Warfare 2 would reduce its digital footprint, but that doesn't appear to be the case. While there is a separate package you need to download for the next big Battle Royale title, it takes up a tiny 2.55GB. The good news is you can delete the single player campaign once you're done with it, and the same goes for the co-op mode Spec Ops.
Calisto:
Fast-approaching PS5 and PS4 horror title The Callisto Protocol has called off its release in Japan just over a month from launch. The announcement comes via the title's official Japanese Twitter account, which states that the game has been refused classification by the country's CERO rating system.
In order to be released in Japan, developer Striking Distance Studios would have to tone down the title's violence so that it falls in line with the nation's rather strict stance on graphic imagery. However, the team isn't willing to censor what can be an incredibly gory experience.
"The Callisto Protocol has decided to stop the release of the Japanese version," reads the aforementioned statement. "As of now, the CERO rating cannot be passed. We have decided that we would no longer be able to provide the experience players expect. We hope everyone in Japan will understand. If you have already pre-ordered, you will be refunded."
Spotify:
As was the case with Disney+ up until very recently, Spotify’s app on PS5 was actually running in PS4 backwards compatibility. While this had no material impact on the music service’s features and functionality – unlike with Disney’s aforementioned streaming service, which lacked native 4K streaming on Sony’s new-gen system until earlier this month – it’s something that was always likely to be rectified eventually. And now it has!
If you try to open Spotify on your PS5, you’ll be told the software is no longer compatible, and that you need to upgrade. This will download a native version of the app, which seems identical to the previous version as far as we can tell. We’re sure there are some under-the-hood improvements that make this edition better, but it’s an enforced upgrade either way, so you may as well set aside the time to update it.
