Each Tuesday, we will be releasing a tech tip video that will give users information on various topics relating to our Storinator storage servers.
In this week's video, Brett is back to finish up his talk about setting up offline repositories. This time, he is focusing on setting up an offline Ubuntu repository using Aptly.
Aptly is a swiss army knife for Debian repository management: it allows you to mirror remote repositories, manage local package repositories, take snapshots, pull new versions of packages along with dependencies, publish as Debian repository.
What happens if you need to download installation files or updates for your operating system or other package files and don't have access to the internet OR you are air gapped for security reasons?
Well, you can create offline package repositories to allow syncing of files from the source in order to store them locally.
In a previous video Brett showed us how to do this with Rocky Linux: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQmVgf23E00
