Russian Best T-90M Tanks Attacked Terny. Ukraine’s Drones Blew Them Apart. On or just before Thursday, a Russian army assault group—apparently drawn from the 3rd Army Corps—attacked the Ukrainian garrison in Terny, in eastern Ukraine 65 miles north of Avdiikva. On paper, it was a powerful force: perhaps battalion-strength, with at least six T-80BVM and T-90M tanks, at least four fighting vehicles including BMP-2s and a TOS-1 thermobaric rocket-launcher. Notably, the assault group had more of Russia’s best T-90M tanks. But the brand-new T-90Ms blew up just as easily as Russia’s older tanks have done. Pummeled by drones flown by the Ukrainian army’s 60th and 63rd Mechanized Brigades, the Russian assault ground to a halt two miles southeast of Terny. Retreating, the survivors left behind no fewer than six tanks including four T-90s as well as four fighting vehicles.
