Feather Metsch (Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians), a junior at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, came to the NMAI with a personal digital agenda to document cultural material from her tribal region and share it with people back home. Working in the museum's collections, she found a new—and old— inspiration, as well: She learned the traditional techniques for making objects she was digitizing.
Feather did research the Cultural Resources Center as part of an NMAI–IAIA project within the larger Artist Leadership Program to bring IAIA students to the museum to do independent study and a student presentation.
