It’s common for project managers to wonder, “How many projects should I manage?”
How many projects is too many?
To paint some of the picture, here’s how many projects some of the PMs in our DPM community are managing:
5 projects (each lasts 12 months and are in different stages of development)
15 projects (website builds, redesigns, and maintenance) + a few year-long projects
15 projects (most are site builds, redesigns, and maintenance). Maintenance is on 12-month contracts, standalone projects are 3-6 months
You can already see that there’s quite a range. Clearly, the number of projects is not the only thing that matters. It’s also important to factor in things like:
Type of project
How many people are on it
What phase each project is in
What type of contract it is
The duration of the project
So, how do you take all of these factors and decide exactly how many projects you should manage—and how much is too much?
That’s what you’ll learn in the video above.
