John-117 (Master Chief), a Spartan super-soldier, awakes from cryosleep and is united with the Smart AI Cortana. They escape the doomed ship, landing on the Halo and uncovering its disturbing truth. Hiding within the ringworld is the parasitic Flood. Initially, the ring’s monitor, 343 Guilty Spark, assists the Chief in activating the ring.
