DSum is an Excel database function that acts on tabular data in microsoft excel.
Dsum allows you to query you data like a database by creating query by example criteria, these criteria can be quite complex such as include this element and exclude that element.
The dsum function also makes it very easy to audit the results that it throws up because whatever is in the criteria, can be easily emulated by an autofilter or failing that by the advanced filter in excel.

One of the advantages of the drum function is that it forces you to use good spreadsheet design meaning that you separate data from reports.
In a well designed spreadsheet all reports will get their data from data ranges and will never rely on the output from other reports.
This saves you from having reports that don't agree with on another and have rounding issues etc.
