Global change puts coastal marine systems under enormous pressure, and threatens community structure and functioning. Because planktonic organisms are key indicators of ecosystem change, in the PlanktoSERV project we realistically assess the impact of simultaneous changes in temperature, pH, and nutrients on plankton communities. During a mesocosm experiment, we tested how two different IPCC scenarios coupled with predicted nutrient regime shifts affect the planktonic food web of the North Sea.
