A new report from Taiwan Economic Times claims that Foxconn, Apple's largest supplier, has started manufacturing the iPhone 14 Pro on a trial basis. According to experts, commencing trial production suggests that Apple has finalised the iPhone 14 Pro's design. Meanwhile, it is reported that Foxconn will produce the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, while another contract manufacturer Luxshare ,will be manufacturing the non-Pro models.
Purportedly, Foxconn is starting trial production now ,to evaluate the process, collect data, and address any issues that could arise. Rumour has it that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max could ship with punch-hole displays, not the notched ones to which iPhone fans have become accustomed.
Last year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo raised hopes ,that Apple would return to Touch ID across its flagship smartphones, starting with the iPhone 14 series. Supposedly, Apple would adopt in-display fingerprint sensors, the likes of which Samsung and Xiaomi have been using for years. To that end, Apple had filed corresponding patent applications, as we discussed at the time. However, iDrop News claims that Apple has ceased developing these sensors, and is focussing on Face ID improvements instead. Meanwhile,It has to be also noted, that iDrop News reference sources that are related to the matter, has not explained why Apple has abandoned a new style of Touch ID.
As usual, Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 14 series in September, possibly with a new and cheaper 6.7-inch model replacing the iPhone 13 mini.
