Rowing is a sport that requires perseverance, dedication, communication, and teamwork. These life lessons are also essential to helping Philadelphia’s youth reach their potential and set themselves on a path to future success. Philadelphia City Rowing (PCR) works to provide local under-resourced high school students with a team environment rich in racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity that will empower them to engage with their community and realize their individual potential.
With support from a Penn Medicine CAREs grant awarded to Penn Medicine Clinical Application Analyst Joshua Littlejohn, MPH, MSN, RN, PCR is able to continue building their programs and provide improved experiences to more students. Thus far, 100 percent of PCR student-athletes have graduated on time and most graduate with plans to continue pursuing their education or training.
