Jakob’s Law says that you can’t be too original because people spend most of their time on other apps and websites and not yours. Meaning you need to conform to the norm or face bad user experience. People are simply used to some patterns.
But what if those ux patterns don’t matter as much if a person mostly uses ONE app or website? In the era of TikTok and Instagram it’s actually quite common to have people that treat those apps as their main entertainment and news source and spend most of their time there.
Do these apps still need to confom to the rest of the internet? Or should the internet start conforming to their design patterns?
