With the New Year comes New Year's Resolutions, and those often bring a mixture of disappointment and shame when we fail to sustain them over time. But what if there were a different way to approach making these changes? What if we could start to get curious about why our bad habits persist? What if even our unhealthy choices have useful things to teach us about our deep longings? Not that the unhealthy ways we are currently pursuing those longings is the answer, but rather they can contain clues (if we can look curiously, without shame) that can lead us toward forming habits that have the staying power of bad habits and the lovely congruency of good habits.
