Hi Folks, Inmos and the Transputer CPU they created was ahead of it's time.
The Transputer was designed to be a highly parallel processor, capable of operating as a standalone processor or as part of a larger network of processors. It was intended for use in a wide range of applications, including real-time control, signal processing, and high-performance computing.
The Transputer was unique in that it was designed specifically for use in parallel computing systems, with each Transputer capable of communicating with other Transputers through dedicated communication channels. This made it possible to build highly parallel systems by connecting multiple Transputers together, which could then be used to solve complex problems more quickly than would be possible with a single processor.
The Transputer was used in a number of high-profile projects in the 1980s and 1990s, including the Connection Machine, a supercomputer developed by MIT's Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, and the Cray T3D, a supercomputer developed by Cray Research.
Kia Silverbrook founded Integrated Arts, a parallel processing and computer graphics company using the Inmos transputer.
Kia is an Australian independent inventor and scientist. He is one of the most prolific inventors in the world holding he has 9,874 patents.
