Freud's theories have shaped the landscape of disciplines ranging from philosophy to political theory, as well as the vocabulary and habits of our everyday lives. These theories, however, are often badly summarized or over-simplified: a lifetime (and rich legacy) of evolving and far-reaching ideas collapsed into reductive formulae and rigid categories.
This talk is an effort to do justice to the complexity of Freud's psychoanalytic theory, and the ways it changes through his different works, and presents in-depth analyses of some of Freud's most renowned, and often misunderstood, ideas.
