Friday the 13th was far from the first slasher movie ever made, but the 1980 film is probably the most classic example of one. The film drew inspiration from John Carpenter’s 1978 film, Halloween, but it dropped most of Carpenter’s psychological horror and suspense while upping the body count and sexual content.
