Health equity is a complicated topic. It’s challenging to explain and teach and comprehend. So, we wanted to divide the larger concept into smaller points, receive inspiration from the community, and create tools that are both informative and compelling.
We started by hiring spoken word artist, Brittany Delaney. Brittany became the force that brought this work to fruition. Her ability to meet with the community, listen to their stories, and translate those experiences into poetry was the foundation from which the animation rose.
Our animator, Amy Schmitt, developed the work further by creating the characters, environments and graphics that enriched the poetry; bringing it to life through animation.
Special thanks to all the folks at Appetite for Change and 20% Theatre for sharing their lives and stories with us. Mixed Blood Theatre and The Terrarium for the space to meet, film and record. And a HUGE THANKS to everyone at Quiet Island Films for taking a big concept and making it a beautiful reality.
