The Eagle Plains hotel and service station operated by owner and local lifesaver Stan is located about midway up the Arctic's Dempster Highway and 80 miles east of the Yukon Alaska border. It is one of Dempster Highway's safe havens and the only rest stop along this more than 700 km roadway. Eagle Plains is a base of operations for emergency responders and a self-contained sanctuary for the harsh Yukon winter where it can reach up to 45 below.
