Oops! The period from 1991-2001 is quite interesting. Between Terminator 2 and its CGI innovations, and the terror attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001, science-fiction films of this period came during a post-Cold-War, monopolar world of US dominance. Perhaps as a result, or perhaps because it made for good cinema, these movies tend to be more paranoid and conspiratorial than movies of ten years prior. You'll see a lot of Philip K Dick and William Gibson influence on these movies from 1991 to 2001. The blockbusters aren't that great, but there are plenty of solid second-tier science-fiction movies that, made during or even before the advent of the internet worldwide, might feel dated or of a different time.
