The products I created were then used in a portfolio that I posted on my website and on social media. These early clients were from my inner circle—my closest network. I charged nothing or very little in the beginning to just get started getting clients into my freelance business. After I had done 10 videos for early clients, I polished my portfolio and made it look professional, before I updated my website with the logos and video productions, I had made for the inner circle. Then, I slowly started to get leads that lead to new clients - but this time from my outer circle (my extended network). The way I got these clients as a freelancer was not through paid marketing, blogging or cold calling. No, all the clients came in based on the early work I had done for my inner circle. I still got new clients from my close network, but the money is in your outer circle - the ones who look at your website's logo wall, portfolio and reviews, then call you up. Therefore, my advice is to use this 2-step method to 1) work for your inner circle so you can 2) make money on your outer circle.
