I've set up a small blacksmith shop to make my own small knives and tools for less than the cost of a single boutique tool! Using some firebrick, a couple of well placed holes, and a propane torch, I constructed a small forge. A few inexpensive grinding and buffing tools, a free I-beam offcut and a small vise I found in a scrap metal pile, a hammer and some tongs, and I’ve got a full kit to make my own spoon knives for less than $100.
