This is quite different from my normal tool restorations. In this video, I do some hand plane preservation. I am trying to show the technique I use to preserve the value of a collectible hand plane, even though this is specific hand plane is not very collectible. In most tool preservations the key is to remove large amounts of rust or dirt and keep as much patina and natural use/age as possible.
All you need is some fine sandpaper, steel wool, a razor blade, a screwdriver, and some wax. I removed some paint marks with paint strippers and just used soap, water, and a brush to clean the plane.
