This data visualization video shows the countries that invest the most of their GDP on research and development, R&D, from 2000 to 2023. Normally more R&D leads to countries that are more advanced in all aspects of their economy even down to quality of life.
Note that a country's historical investment in R&D and education can have long-term effects. A nation that has consistently invested in these areas over decades might have a robust technological and industrial base, even if its current R&D expenditure has decreased.
The amount of investment is one aspect, but how efficiently and effectively that investment is used is another. Some countries might have a high R&D expenditure but may not be as effective in translating that investment into tangible innovations or economic benefits.
